Pattaya Budget Hotels For Short and Long Term Stay

One of the most popularly visited cities in Thailand is located on the eastern gulf called Pattaya. Just a two hour bus ride away Pattaya is most well known as the 'poor man's' beach-side resort because of the abundance of budget hotel choices located throughout the city. And some of Pattaya's most affordable accommodations are even right on the beach. But there are a few things you should know before you go ahead and reserve a room at a cheap hotel.

When is the best time to book a hotel in Pattaya for the best deals?

The low season which is from March to early November brings heavy rain quite frequently. The heat index is way higher as well especially when the high humidity kicks in from the tropics. But most don't mind it because room rates during the low season are slashed from 20% to 40%, making it an ideal time to save some money.

Pattaya Hotels that cost around Baht 500 per night? Are they worth it?

Baht 500 is roughly $15 US dollars and there are many hotels in Pattaya charging around that price range. And suffice to say being so cheap makes any hotel charging that much extremely popular with travelers from all over the world. The only thing is that a room with that price normally doesn't include air conditioning, just a fan. To some it's a big deal. To others not so big. But Pattaya does get very hot and the heat lingers on into the night which makes it difficult to sleep. At least for me personally. A room with air conditioning in the same hotel will usually cost just Baht 100 more.

Here are a few names of popular hotels in the Baht 500 price range:

Sawasdee Sabai
Sawasdee Sunshine
Sawasdee Sea View (right by Pattaya Beach)

It goes without saying, the quality of those hotels are not the greatest. And most of the cheap accommodations in the city include a very simple breakfast with the room if that's and consolation. But if all you need is a clean bed, a hot shower and be in a location right in the heart of all the activity such as the red light district, beach and shopping then those hotels are perfect for short term stay. If you can afford to spend a bit more you'll notice a major difference in room quality if you pay double.

Here are a few names of hotels that cost Baht 1000 and really well worth the money:

Sunshine Hotel and Residence
Eastiny Inn
Sabai Lodge

Accommodations that usually charge that much offer a decent buffet breakfast with the room and some even provide swimming pools and a small fitness center. Air conditioning is included of course. It's a perfect choice for anyone planning to stay in the area for longer periods of time in comfort.
